Adjusting Fibre Channel Speed and Topology

In most instances, the default settings for ﬁbre channel communications are the most

appropriate ones. If you have a ﬁbre channel switch or a ﬁxed transmission path among a

group of systems, you may want to use one of the other ﬁbre channel options.

To adjust the fibre channel settings:

1 Open RAID Admin and click Settings.

2 Enter the management password and click OK.

3 In the Settings window, click the Fibre Channel tab.

4 Click buttons for the options you want to change.

m Change the Speed setting if you want to enhance or limit transmission speed.

m Change the Topology option if your system is connected to a switch or you have a ﬁxed

network arrangement. Consult your network administrator if you aren’t sure whether to

change this setting.

5 Click Apply Now.

6 In the conﬁrmation window, click OK.

Note: The ﬁbre channel changes take effect when the Xserve RAID system restarts.
